Henry's
Fish House

The Town of Penetanguishene, often shortened to Penetang, was incorporated in 1882. Located on the southeasterly tip of Georgian Bay, this wonderful harbour was the chosen site for British naval and military headquarters in the 1800’s.
In addition to a strong Aboriginal heritage, Penetanguishene is a bilingual community (English – French) reflective of the early Quebecois settlers who moved to the area in the 1840’s.
As a gateway to Georgian Bay, Penetanguishene offers a vibrant array of activities for all seasons including boating, fishing, cottaging, camping, diving, and snowmobiling, to name just a few. See the 1812 sailing ships the HMS Bee and the HMS Tecumseth at the historic naval and military base at Discovery Harbour. Get tickets to some great summer theatre at King’s Wharf Theatre. Visit Awenda Provincial Park, with its sand, cobble, and boulder beaches, 35 metre bluffs, campsites and walking trails. The park extends across the water and includes the island known as Giant’s Tomb, said to be the final resting place of Kitchikewana, an Indian God, a giant, who (by legend) is responsible for the creation of the 30,000 islands. Enjoy a relaxing sunset cruise on the deck of the MS Georgian Queen.
Lots to do … lots to see … Penetanguishene … an historic heritage, and your access to the famous waters and unique landscape of Georgian Bay.
